Elk Cove Vineyards was founded in 1974 in Oregon’s northern Willamette Valley. Known for single-vineyard pinot noirs and crisp, aromatic white wines, Elk Cove was the very first vineyard and winery in what would one day become the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. 100% family-owned and operated, Elk Cove now farms over 400 acres of vines on six different sites.

Fruit from Five Mountain is fermented in small, temperature controlled steel tanks, hand punched down twice daily, and barreled in French oak barrels. After 10 months of aging, only the barrels that are most representative of the Five Mountain profile are carefully blended to create a rich, earthy Oregon Pinot Noir.

About Five Mountain Vineyard

Five Mountain Vineyard

Five Mountain is set on a steep southeast-facing slope in the Laurelwood District Sub-AVA of the Chehalem Mountains. This vineyard has spectacular view of five volcanoes of the Cascade Range: Mount Hood (in the above photo), Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier, Mount Jefferson, and Mount Adams.

This historic vineyard on loess soil (Laurelwood/windblown silt) was planted in 1978 by the Ponzi family and was purchased by Elk Cove in 2005. Five Mountain now totals 30 acres including the original 4.2 acres of old-vine Pommard clone Pinot Noir. We have also added plantings of Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer and Riesling to continue perfecting our Alsatian-style white wines.

Five Mountain is home to winemaker Adam Campbell’s family and the site of many of our summer gatherings where the view of Mount Hood is always a highlight.

Elk Cove is proud to partner with Silicon Valley Bank & First Citizens Bank.
