Palest gold to near colourless. Smells of pear, vanilla and white flowers. Flavours of pear, pastry cream and citrus pith have a chalky grip, great acidity and a whisper of sweetness. Lovely.” – Alder Yarrow
“Aromas of cherries, sweet oak mocha and raspberries. Fleecy, muscular tannins coat the mouth and wrap around a core of cherry, cranberry, crushed nuts and sweet oak. The nutty qualities and oak dominate the finish with a mocha scent. Very good acidity.” – Alder Yarrow
“Medium lemon. Lemon oil and aloe vera. Bright acidity and fine bubbles. The aloe vera carries on to the palate – a light green, pleasantly vegetal note alongside the fruit.” – Samantha Cole-Johnson
A blend of mainly Pinot Noir, the 2019 ‘Mount Richmond’ is dense and delicious on the mouth. Loaded with pear and baked apple flavors with wild strawberry and starfruit tones, this is rich and viscous stuff, with tons of salty nuance. Enjoy now and over the next eight to ten years. Drink 2026-2036.
The 2019 Elk Cove ‘La Boheme Brut Rose’ Sparkling Wine is vibrant pink in the glass. It comes off loaded with intense red fruits with blood orange zest, cardamom dusted French bread and stony minerals on the palate. The soft mousse and wonderful sense of weight entices from this slightly cooler vintage. Drink 2026-2036.
The very mineral-laden 2019 Elk Cove ‘Goodrich Blanc de Blancs’ Sparkling Wine comes from the Goodrich Vineyard. All Chardonnay, this delivers bright citrus blossom water and freshly cut limes on the palate alongside sourdough bread notes. This would be a tasty foil for Kusshi oysters. Drink 2026-2036.
