Our Commitments To Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
All Are Welcome
Sharing a glass of wine is treating someone like family and we invite you to our table. We reject and actively oppose the reputation of wine as exclusive or excluding anyone. All are welcome at Elk Cove and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, creed, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and socioeconomic status.
We encourage members of underrepresented groups in the wine industry and in given sectors of the wine industry to apply whether or not we have an active position open.
Our Wine Fellowship is geared toward advancing the career of someone early to mid-career in the wine industry who has shown a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in our field. This rigorous yet flexible interdepartmental position offers a fast track training in sales, winemaking, distribution and vineyard and business management. Interested in working at Elk Cove? Skilled labor in the vineyard is essential to making good wine and we are committed to improving life for vineyard workers in our community. The men and women who train our vines and harvest our fruit are mostly immigrants from countries to the South who face language, cultural and legal barriers.
We commit to paying a living wage to all vineyard workers. We offer training, advancement and flexibility with the goal of hiring as many full-time benefitted positions in the vineyard as we possibly can with paid vacation, health insurance and retirement. We partner with and financially support nonprofits like Salud to advance access to healthcare, education and family services for farmworkers and their families.
Employee Training and DEI
Elk Cove employees are encouraged to take part in DEI trainings and leadership opportunities through organizations such as the Willamette Valley Vineyards Association, the Oregon Wine Symposium and B Corp. We must all work together to make the Oregon wine industry a more welcome, diverse and inclusive environment for all.
