Elk Cove 2018 Willamette Valley Estate Pinot Noir is described as “smooth, with aromas of ripe red and dark fruit, spice and hint of vanilla, and flavors of ripe black cherry and raspberry with a lingering finish.”
“The whole cluster press of this wine results in bright fruit aromas and flavors of pear, apricot, peach, minerality, and bright acidity in this almost dry wine.”
“Elk Cove, under the winemaking direction of Adam Campbell, has become one of Oregon’s premier wineries, making sublime single-vineyard Pinot Noirs and also this peachy, crisp Pinot Gris. It’s a perfect, sustainably-made summer white.”
“It’s a tight-knit community, one that is comfortable sharing, collaborating, and learning together. Many are neighbors. This easy congeniality informed the tastings, which better resembled jazz musicians riffing than winemakers talking.” – L.M. Archer

“Fresh, juicy pear, melon and crisp apple leap from the glass before landing playfully on the palate. Lively and refreshing, with a touch of orange peel on the endless finish. Textbook example of Oregon pinot gris. A gorgeous wine that would be welcome at any backyard barbeque.”
“Planted in 2007, this vineyard delivers exuberant fruit with depth and complexity. A proportion of whole clusters are used, and the wine is aged for 10 months in French casks, 20% new. The result delivers ripe mulberry and fig fruit with notes of smoke and well-integrated oak spice. The density is balanced by a crisp, refreshing acidity that leads to a persistent finish.”
“This delightfully complex bubbly from Elk Cove offers up earthy notes from lees contact, but light-hearted fruit and florals as well—strawberries swirling with wisteria. A spin of citrus on the palate leads into raspberry, then heads toward tart cranberry and rhubarb. A savory edge and underlying minerality slip in on the finish, buoyed by great, persistent bubbles.”
“Such a pretty and approachable red, with delicate cherry, rose petal and spice flavors that linger toward polished tannins.”
“Harmonious and elegantly complex, with pretty rose petal, raspberry and black tea flavors that build richness and tension toward fine-grained tannins.”
“…a broody nose of earth and blackberries with notes of tar and potpourri. The medium-bodied palate is fully fruited and firm, with an appealing savoriness and long, juicy finish…”
“…bright and yeasty on the nose with notes of candied citrus and baked apples. The light-bodied palate is broad and flavorful with good uplift from its bright acidity and mineral tones.”
“…bold scents of aniseed, earth, blackberries and blueberries with touches of bergamot. The medium-bodied palate is firm and juicy with pleasantly earthy fruits and a spicy finish.”
