92 Points – Vinous

Josh Raynolds of Antonio Galloni’s Vinous gave our 2019 Mount Richmond Pinot Noir a 93 point score in his review of Oregon Wines entitled “Oregon’s 2019 Pinot Noirs – A Return to Classicism”

“Shimmering ruby-red. Powerful cherry cola, black raspberry, candied licorice and exotic spices on the fragrant nose. Appealingly sweet and pliant in texture, offering juicy red and dark berry flavors, a touch of succulent herbs and a spicy flourish that builds on the back half. Finishes long and smoky, with a repeating cherry note and subtle tannic grip.” – Josh Raynolds

“Adam Campbell’s parents, Pat and Joe, were very early to the Willamette Valley game; in 1974, they established Elk Cove in Gaston and have steadily expanded it to its current 400 acres of vineyards. That is simply massive by the region’s standards, especially for a producer making wines in the upper quality tier. Adam came on board in 1995, and the wines have been on a continuous ascent ever since. The use of new oak varies widely here, depending on vintage and across the vineyard sites, meaning that some wines see as little as 20% new barrels while others might see up to two-thirds. The lineup of 2019s is consistently excellent, and the wines are showing extremely well now, which will please the impatient or fruit-craving Pinot lovers out there. But I would exercise some restraint, as they are also well-concentrated and balanced, with solid backbone that will help to see them easily past their first decade.” -Josh Raynolds

At the intersection of media and technology, Vinous is Antonio Galloni’s vision of a modern-day wine publication. Vinous’s team of renowned critics and writers offers in depth coverage of new releases, retrospectives and verticals of older wines, videos with winemakers, interactive maps, restaurant recommendations and more, all published in a continual, daily stream of articles. With the acquisition of Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar in December 2014 and the addition of the IWC editorial team, Vinous expanded coverage to all major wine regions. Today Vinous has subscribers in over 100 countries and is one of the most respected wine publications in the world.
