Our 2021 Mount Richmond Chardonnay was awarded a 92-point score in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate:
“The 2021 Chardonnay Mount Richmond was barrel fermented and matured in about 20% new French oak. It has layered aromas of yellow apple, apricot, hazelnuts, honey and brioche. The medium-bodied palate is silky with expansive, savory fruit. It has a foil of focused acidity that tempers its opulence and a long, flavorful finish.” -Erin Brooks
“Oregon’s Willamette Valley has been successfully marketed as a Pinot Noir-centric region. Nearly 70% of planted acreage is dedicated to the grape, occupying more than 18,000 acres. Other varieties do well here—Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gamay—but in my view, the most exciting new wines are crafted from Chardonnay.
Consumer perception of domestic Chardonnay is still largely tied to the reputation California made for itself during the 1990s and 2000s, producing ripe, creamy, glossily oaked versions that became synonymous with the grape’s identity. As American preferences gradually shift toward lighter, fresher styles of wine, Willamette Valley Chardonnay is a blank canvas poised to deliver quality and value.” – Erin Brooks
