2021 Mount Richmond Chardonnay

Scents of lemon meringue pie and ginger introduce a wine equally creamy and juicy with ripe pear, clementine and honeydew melon moving into vibrant citrus peel and ginger on the flinty finish.

Lemons and peach jam fill the nose, along with a compelling aromatic closer of flint and fresh-grated ginger. The wine feels creamy and full in the mouth, with a nice bit of acidity to keep things lively. White grapefruit and Golden Delicious apple flavors are complemented by a nice lemon gelato note.

“From the Mount Richmond Vineyard in the foothills of the Coast Range on Willakenzie soils, lemon oil marks the aromatics, followed by notes of spiced pear and a hint of almond cream. The palate is lush, well-textured, and bright. Lemon curd flavours mingle with notes of white pepper, honeyed ginger, and sweet nectarine flesh.”

“The 2021 Chardonnay Mount Richmond was barrel fermented and matured in about 20% new French oak. It has layered aromas of yellow apple, apricot, hazelnuts, honey and brioche. The medium-bodied palate is silky with expansive, savory fruit. It has a foil of focused acidity that tempers its opulence and a long, flavorful finish.”

The 2021 ‘Mount Richmond’ comes from the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and comes from younger vines which are roughly six years old. Stored in oak puncheons and concrete eggs for 12 months, this delivers good richness and flavor density. Bright pear and honeydew melon flavors combine with stony minerals, vanilla cream and pie crust flavors. Nicely balanced, enjoy this beautiful wine now and over the next eight years. Drink 2023-2031

“The first of their single vineyard wines, the 2021 Chardonnay Mount Richmond pours a medium yellow-straw hue and offers sunny aromas of golden apple, yellow flowers, white mushroom, and Meyer lemon. Rounded and medium to full-bodied, it displays a supple, creamy texture, with even acidity and a floral finish with lasting notes of vanilla. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.”
