Growing up in the Vineyard

“Five second-generation Oregon winemakers share what it’s been like to make a career in the family vineyard”

Paul Gregutt interviewed five second-generation Willamette Valley winemakers, including our own Adam Campbell, on how they made what he calls “the most difficult decision of all – whether to devote their lives to the family wine business.” Jason Lett, Luisa Ponzi, Ben Casteel and Alex Sokol Blosser are also featured.  All are children of early Oregon winemakers who planted vines in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Adam made this decision after his junior year of college, returning home to finish his degree at Lewis & Clark College and then work alongside his parents, Elk Cove founders Pat and Joe Campbell. Adam explains that it was his developing passion for wine that brought him back to the family business “If you don’t have that passion, it just seems like a lot of work. For me, it’s not work at all.”
