The Roosevelt Elk
In the rainy winter of 1974, a herd of elk bedded down around the Campbell’s trailer. They opened their door that morning to find themselves surrounded and Pat and Joe were inspired to name their new vineyard Elk Cove.
Our wine club goes by the name Roosevelt in honor of the Roosevelt Elk, the Pacific subspecies of elk named for Theodore Roosevelt. The largest mammal roaming the nearby Coast Range Mountains, this majestic animal is a symbol of the land we call home.
We also named one of our best Pinot Noir blocks Roosevelt after these incredible creatures.
