Accolades

“The 2021 Pinot Gris is highly perfumed, with scents of lemon verbena, lemongrass, green pear and peach with honey-nut undertones. The light-bodied palate is fresh and inviting, with gregarious fruit enhanced by four grams of residual sugar, and it has a long, gently leesy finish. This is so easy to drink!”

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (May 2023)

…Pear and peach flavours are joined by hazelnuts on the rich, full palate. The wine’s zippy acidity is like a surprise ending to a movie.

“..this wine was made by Adam Campbell at Elk Cove, one of my favorite winemakers in the Valley, and, well, whoa. Rich. Tree fruit. Pear. Peach. Apricot. Salinity. Mineral. Yowza. A whole lot going on even before the first sip. Happily, the palate does not disappoint. A wave of fruit is quickly followed by a near-bracing acidity, resulting in a beautifully balanced wine. It seems as though Adam has found the formula to incorporate the best aspects of both styles of Pinot Gris/Grigio, and that is a beautiful thing. Whoa. This has to be near the top of my favorite domestic Pinot Gris.”

The aromas start out light, with notes of herb, pear, star fruit and other tropical fruits. Broad-feeling flavors follow, showing depth and layering. There’s pleasing balance to it all.

“With some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines in the Willamette Valley, Elk Cove’s date back to 1985. Whole-cluster-pressed and cool fermented in stainless steel tanks, the aromatics sing with apricot and tangerine. There seems to be a charge of electricity in the wine, pizazz from lime zest, floral notes of honeysuckle and greener notes of basil and thyme”

“The bright and well-balanced 2021 Pinot Gris by Elk Cove was sourced from their estate hillside vineyards, with some vines that date back to 1985. Aged in stainless steel, this unveils a soft mouthfeel with white grapefruit and honeydew melon flavors alongside shades of toasty brioche on the palate. Enjoy over the next few years while this beautiful freshness remains intact.”
